The hypnotherapist has control over me. As the client, you are always in control and will not do anything against your own will. Hypnosis is not something imposed on you, your hypnotherapist serves as a facilitator to guide you into creating the changes you desire. Can Hypnosis stop me from biting my nails (any other habit)? Yes. It depends on your motivation and willingness to want to stop/change this habit. Will Hypnotherapy help me to get to the “root cause” of a challenge? That depends on your level of willingness. The subconscious has a way of surfacing and uncovering more of a “root cause.” Sometimes there is more behind what we think is bothering us or what we would like to work on in a session. What if I can’t be hypnotized? Everyone has their own unique experience with hypnotherapy. We are constantly going in and out of the altered state of consciousness that we call hypnosis. Watching TV, daydreaming and driving a car can all induce a hypnotized state of mind, just to name a few. Is hypnosis dangerous? There has never been a documented case of harm coming to anyone from the therapeutic use of hypnosis. There has also never been a documented case of someone unable to come out of a hypnotic state. How often should the sessions be done and how many do I need? It all depends. We will always reassess at the wrap-up of each session. Remain open to the possibility of rapid progression: just as any unwanted behavior/thought can be implemented in a split second, I believe a new, desired thought/behavior can be accepted by the subconscious right away, if the motivation is there. Is there a guarantee, how will I know that it worked? How you choose to measure your success is the important focus. Can you help me forget a terrible experience I went through? No. I can help you learn to manage it and transform your perception and emotional reaction to it. What if I recall something in hypnosis that is awful and I hadn’t remembered it before? Memory is never 100% factual, so it could be showing itself through a metaphor to help bring you awareness around something that is occurring in your life currently. Sometimes memories surface so we are provided an opportunity to let go of anything that is no longer serving us in our personal growth. You are now at a point in your life that you’re ready and strong enough to see it through another perspective and ultimately change/transform your past. |
